Robert L. Rediger
Robert L. Rediger is an AV rated lawyer and a partner with the law firm. He has negotiated many collective bargaining agreements with labor unions on behalf of employers, including the first multi-employer CBA with the SEIU covering security officers in the Bay Area and a multi-employer CBA with the Teamsters covering parking attendants in San Francisco. He has litigated numerous employment-related cases before administrative agencies and in federal and state courts across the country, several of which have resulted in precedent setting decisions. Mr. Rediger received his B.A. cum laude from Queens College and his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, where he concentrated his studies in labor law and litigation. He speaks regularly at seminars and writes articles on personnel-related issues. For several years, Mr. Rediger taught Labor Law and Employment Law classes at the University of Northern California School of Law. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Sections of the State Bar of California, and the American, Sacramento and New York State Bar Associations. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Sacramento.
Laura C. McHugh
Laura C. McHugh is a partner with the law firm. She counsels and represents employers in the litigation of wrongful termination, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, wage and hour, unfair labor practices and other workplace matters. She has litigated in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies, and has represented clients in several labor arbitrations. Ms. McHugh is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, where she was an editor for the Law Review. She externed for Justice Gerome Smith of the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Law and Litigation Sections of the American, California State and Sacramento County Bar Associations. Ms. McHugh previously worked in corporate human resources for a large bank and received her B.A. degree magna cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
E.A. "Aubrey" Hubbert, Jr.
E.A. "Aubrey" Hubbert, Jr. is a partner with the law firm. He specializes in employment and labor law and has represented business owners and management since 1966. During the span of his career, Mr. Hubbert has provided legal services to a broad range of businesses in matters such as labor negotiations, wrongful termination litigation, discrimination and sexual harassment claims, wage and hour issues and general employment advice and consultation. He has developed and conducted a number of educational seminars and on-site training sessions. He has served as an arbitrator, mediator and expert witness in employment-related matters, as a Judge Pro-Tem for Sacramento County Superior Court, and on the American Bar Association Committee on International Labor Law. He has represented employers before all California state and federal courts and before all administrative agencies taking an interest in the employer-employee relationship. Mr. Hubbert received his L.L.M. degree from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific.
Jeffery Owensby
Jeffery Owensby is an AV rated lawyer and partner in the firm. He is a 1979 honors graduate of the University of San Francisco. He took his law degree from the University of California Davis School of Law in 1982. Since then Mr. Owensby has represented employers in all types of employment cases and has litigated and tried a variety of cases in the State and Federal courts as well as before administrative agencies. Mr. Owensby also advises employers on employment practices and policies including: discrimination and harassment issues, drug testing, employee rights of privacy, wage and hour practices, discipline and dismissal, various statutory leave rights and responsibilities, interactive processes with disabled employees, plant closings and myriad other issues. Mr. Owensby also has a traditional labor law practice in which he represents employers in matters related to management/union relations. In that aspect of his practice he represents employers in grievance proceedings, negotiates collective bargaining agreements and advises employers regarding rights and obligations under federal labor law. He has taught numerous classes to human resource professionals, hospital personnel and lawyers on various employment and workplace issues. In recent years Mr. Owensby has been retained by labor lawyers in the region to serve as mediator or arbitrator in employment cases. The state and federal courts have assigned several cases to Mr. Owensby to mediate, arbitrate or conduct other alternative dispute resolution efforts. Finally, he has also served on boards of directors of several community and non-profit organizations and has dedicated many years to serving the community.
